Features added with the System 7 release included virtual memory, personal file sharing, QuickTime, QuickDraw 3D, and an improved. The version of Mac OS X 10.6.0 raised the optimization to Intel-based processors further, the new operating system is no longer available for PowerPC Macintosh or pure 32-bit intel processors. In return the user receives a pure 64-bit operating system optimized for performance on multiple processors. Mac OS 7.6 is a fine system, but given its close similarity to System 7.5.5 and the fact that it costs money, I can’t recommend paying for a copy unless you’ve got a Power Mac or need support for partitions larger than 4 GB. System 7.5.5 and Mac OS 7.6 are great system versions for vintage Macs that have what it takes to use.
The System Information app provides detailed specifications and other information about your Mac hardware and software, including your network and external devices. In some versions of OS X, this app is called System Profiler.

System Information opens to a system report for your Mac:
Select items in the sidebar to see information about each item. For example:

- The Memory section shows how much RAM is installed in each internal memory slot.
- The Software section shows which startup disk (boot volume) your Mac is using.
